IRS Fall 2021 Meeting
We hope you will be able to join us at the Fall Meeting of the Indiana Radiological Society, which will be held virtually (via Zoom)! It will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. RSVP form is below.
Our speakers will be Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR and Melissa Chen, MD (see bios below).
Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR
Dr. McGinty did her Medical training in Ireland at the National University and then came to the USA for residency at the University of Pittsburgh where she was Chief Resident. Her fellowship was in Women's Imaging at the Massachusetts General Hospital. While working at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx she completed an MBA at Columbia University.
She is an internationally recognized expert in imaging economics. She has served an advisor to the CPT Editorial Panel, the JCAHO and the National Quality Forum. She was Chair of the American College of Radiology's Commission on Economics and was the radiology member of the AMA’s Relative Value Update Committee from 2012-2016.
In May 2018 she was elected as the Chair of the ACR's Board of Chancellors, the first woman to hold this office. She was until 2013 Managing Partner of a 70 physician multispecialty medical group on Long Island. In 2014 she joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. In addition to her clinical practice there, she serves as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Contracting Officer for the Weill Cornell Physician Organization’s more than 1,600 members. She was recently appointed as Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.
Her published work has focused on payment models for imaging, most recently a bundled payment for breast cancer screening. Recently she has focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on Medical Imaging and has spoken at the Turing Institute and to the WHO Focus Group on AI in Healthcare on this topic. In 2015 she was voted Radiology’s Most Effective Educator by the readers of Aunt Minnie, a radiology news site with more than 140,000 members. She has more than 15,000 followers on Twitter.
Melissa Chen, MD
Dr. Chen is a neuroradiologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. After completing radiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Dr. Chen completed a neuroradiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and an oncologic neuroradiology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. During her fellowship, she was selected as the Texas Radiological Society-sponsored ACR Moorefield Fellow in Economics and Health Policy. She currently serves as the ASNR AMA RUC (Relative Value Scale Update Committee) advisor and Chair of the Economics Committee of the ACR Patient Family Centered Care Commission.
